Manual Filter Tips

Build precise, productive filter searches without narrowing yourself into a corner.

Start broad, then narrow. Begin with one or two filters (e.g. role title and location) and watch the match count as you add more. Applying everything at once can leave a pool that's too small to be useful.

Prioritise essential criteria first. Lock in the must-haves (geography, job title) before nice-to-haves (specific skills, education). This shows you the size of the core market before you constrain it.

Use the Company filter strategically. Targeting candidates from specific companies is one of the most reliable signals of relevant experience. Compile the leading companies in your vertical and enter them into the Company filter.

Use the engagement signals. Filtering for candidates who recently changed jobs, post on LinkedIn, or have been in the news can lift response rates — active or recently-moved candidates are often more open.

Adapt to your industry. Some fields use particular job titles, accreditations, or keywords that don't appear elsewhere. A term that's standard in one industry may be absent in another.
